Big news! I just sent the edited draft of my book, The Betrayal, off to my editor, this draft is done! Please keep your fingers, toes, and everything else crossed that she likes it. I like it. In fact, I love it and I’m really looking forward to when I can start sharing it with you and talk about it properly.
I’m on my third week as a Substacker and absolutely loving writing consistently here (https://claireholden.substack.com/). It’s been a bit of revelation so far as consistency is not generally my strong point. Next phase is balancing Substack writing with the novel I started last year. Step by tiny step 💫

I've recently announced my new book, The Housetrap - a middlegrade spook-fest for readers 9+ (link here: https://www.chickenhousebooks.com/blog/can-you-solve-the-housetrap/ ) I'm waiting on copyedits so I'm chill, but knowing the work is about to land. The calm before the storm! There's definitely something about getting over the structural edits that makes it feel a bit more downhill from then on - hope it's plain sailing for you from now until publication!

I'm squirrelling away on my stabby adhd swordsmith witch meets Prince Charming Charming/Secret Vampire, Grumpy Immortal/Human Sunshine, Cinderella inspired, spicy romcom "Pumpkin Spiced". It's the first in what I hope will be a new series called "The Bluebloodsuckers", about a modern-day European royal family who just happen to be creatures of the night.
And in other news, the illustrated ebook edition of my debut The Book Boyfriend is currently on a kindle countdown deal and only 99p/99c until Monday! I'd love to get more views on this video about it:

I have been working on my manuscript for nearly two years, fours years including its prequel… and I’m nearing the last chunk of chapters. My goodness, it’ll be a relief to have finished both those mammoth MS’s, I can tell you! So I can truly appreciate (and celebrate) how you feel right now. I’m sure The Betrayal will be fabulously received!
I’d also like to thank you for recommending Substack… I have only done two newsletters, but I absolutely love it! So easy to use (and believe me, I had tried quite a few 😜)… but thanks to you, I have started and now have something to nurture and grow.

I’m currently working on a revised edition of my first book Blackwattle Lake, first published in 2012 and being released on audio for the first time in July.

My book Breaking All The Rules came out 3 weeks ago and its been a bit of a whirlwind. Am concentrating most of my TT vids on the book but man, it feels like I'm spinning my wheels there too many times.
If only it wasn't so addictive lol.

I recently got the 2nd book in the same series back from the editor, so I'll have to work on that. In the meantime, I've started a new series in the same world but with different characters. The first book in that series is currently with the editor.

I’m thrilled to be doing the last minute prep for my first book signing ✍🏻 event in a beautiful chilled crystal boutique in my village.. it’s on Sunday.
