I’m booked in to go next week so NO SPOILERS PLEASE, but I had to write to you about the phenomenon that is the Barbie film and the marketing campaign that has got everyone wearing pink, buying random Barbie merch and singing ‘c’mon Barbie let’s go parteeee’ like it’s the late 90’s again. (By the way have you Googled ‘Barbie’ and seen what it does? Magic.)
There has been so much hype about the film.
I can mention it to anyone, from my 10 year old daughter to my 80 year old dad and we can have a full on conversation about it.
How cool is that?
And I know it’s all down to the huge marketing budget ($150 million) but what I realised the other day, is that there are five main points used in the marketing that we can learn from.
I’ve talked about how we can expand our offers beyond our books before, but looking at what they’ve done with the Barbie film is epic. So here’s the five takeaways we can use for our writing, promoting our books, leveraging our creativity, and making more money and they’re all relatively easy to implement.
