Are you on TikTok?

I set up a TikTok account for someone new I’m working with last week, and the questions I was asked about it took me back.
Using the platform like I do, I sometimes forget what the basics are, and when I was explaining them to this person who had never posted on TikTok before, I found myself remembering that sometimes the most obvious things are the things that work the best and they can be easy to forget.

So with this in mind, here is my refresh and reset on TikTok.

But before I get into that, quick update on my book Closer Than She Thinks. Last week I talked about my social strategy, so here’s what’s been happening.

Would you believe, Facebook and Instagram have got me the most reach with my book promo reels rather than TikTok? I found that quite surprising as TikTok was always the best for reach.
I also have some more press coverage, which is excellent, and not sure if I can talk about it yet, but I am delighted with the reviews that will be going out in mainstream media just after publication!

And if you have bought the Ebook, would you please leave a review?
I can’t tell you how important they are, not only to people who might be thinking about buying the book, but to the algorithm and a whole lot of other behind the scenes stuff, so, please leave a review. It doesn’t have to be long, just a few words will do!

Ok, onto the TikTok 101 and some stuff you might have forgotten about

First up, remember a TikTok doesn’t have to be long.
It can be, but it can also be 6 seconds. That’s it. It only took a 15 second video for Cynthia Murphy’s book to blow up, so forget fancy production, lighting, and anything else that’s stopping you from posting.
