This week has seen the TikTok algorithm all over the place.
I’ve seen so many posts from people who can’t fathom out what’s going on with it, as it seems videos made in the app from waaaay back are being pushed out again.
Carousel posts that used to get a lot of views have slumped for some, but not for others, but over the board, views are really down on most videos and a lot of authors are freaking out.
We need to take a breath!
We’ve been here before and as the CEO Shou Zi Chew is getting ready to face congress in March, I think we need to be prepared for the app to be going through changes, and the algorithm to be a little…hmmm, what’s the best word for it…shaky.
In last week’s Monday Muse I talked about the big change with the refresh of the FYP and so I think we’ll see more of the same in the coming weeks.
Remember to keep repurposing your content and building up your own community and your audience will grow. Slow and steady, it’s a marathon not a sprint!
That being said, there’s a lot of really exciting stuff going on.
SubStack (have you started yours yet?) released a great post about how to promote your book and I plan to do a guide for getting started on SubStack for those interested in the next few weeks.
I’ve found some great trending audios and effects in both TikTok and Instagram and, as always, they come with ideas for how you can adapt them for your book.
There’s also a really great content idea that super easy to do and is something that should be included in your weekly posting schedule as it’s a sure fire way to resonate with your community and grow your account.
So first up, what new features do we need to be aware of and what changes are on the horizon…
