What a week!
The drama! The gossip!
Nope I’m not talking about Race around the World (anyone else watching that?) I’m talking about CEO of TikTok, Shou Zi Chew, going before congress and if the app will get banned in the US.
It seems likely.
A political move, with reports that parent company ByteDance has been stalking US journalists and fears of how the app stores and collects data, mean that something is about to happen.
It seems unlikely.
If TikTok is banned, what will this mean for other social media apps that collect data in the same way? Will this ruling set a precedent? What about all the advertisers, the many, many jobs created by the app? The way it helps small businesses - not to mention us authors?
But aside from the wider implications, what does it mean for you?
If you’ve been enjoying big book sales on the app?
If it got your confidence to a place it never was before?
If you have a large following and community?
In this weeks content idea, I’m discussing steps to take to safeguard your content on the app, ways to pivot if the app is banned in the US and should this have a domino effect to other countries, and what other shiny apps might take it’s place.
Social media can never be called boring, that’s for sure! So aside from the TikTok debate, what else has been happening…
