Hello You!
It’s been a while since I’ve written and I won’t bore you with why, BUT, I’m back and here’s what’s happening!
I’m splitting up my newsletters! I know, wild, right?
But I was trying to do everything in this newsletter - tell you about my writing journey, what’s been going on with me, as well as giving you information on how to build up your author brand and be more visible as a writer.
I thought this was time saving, but actually it was time wasting as I couldn’t work out how to please every type of reader and the newsletters were taking an age to write.
I know, I know, first rule of writing is ‘who are your writing for’ but I’m such a people pleaser! And I often ignore my own wonderful advice.
So here’s what I’m doing.
This newsletter, my lovely Substack, The Writers Guide To…is going to be jam-packed full of ideas, tips, how-to’s and guides on creating your author and writer brand and platform, how to be more visible without it cutting into writing time.
It’ll also cover how get paying gigs for your writing, freelance work, and how how to, y’know, be a writer as something that makes you money.
It’ll be a once a week newsletter, every Friday, detailing what’s working for me on social media and elsewhere, with insights into my data and how that can work for you.
Basically, I’ll do the experimenting and let you know what’s working, as well as sharing everything else I’m researching and finding out.
And as it’s a bit sensitive and private (I don’t want everyone seeing my insights and data and secrets!) it’ll mostly be for paid subscribers and here is 10% off!
Author… what now?
My other newsletter, which won’t be on Substack, will be my author stuff, out every Wednesday.
Full of ramblings of what I’m up to, with news about great books to read, recommendations of films and TV shows to watch, chats with other authors, links to websites that are fun, that kind of stuff.
Maybe a meme or two that have made me laugh, maybe a inspirational story, TBH I dunno, but it’ll be a lot less serious and you can sign up here.
Which one, or both?
I thought it was worth just letting you know my plans, so that when you start getting two newsletters a week from me, you don’t hate me.
Please don’t let me clog up your inbox, so if you want to hit unsubscribe to any, or both, I promise we’ll still be friends!
AI DISASTER
So aside from that, have you heard about the Willy Wonka disaster that happened in Scotland this week?
I can’t unsee the AI images and copy.
This stuff is REAL. At the time of writing, it’s still up on the WEBSITE and PEOPLE BOUGHT TICKETS.
Sorry for all the capitals, but, wow. Just wow.
Look at what AI promised and look at what they got. It’s been all over the news and still I can’t stop thinking about the steps that led to this whole disaster. Kids crying, police called…
Maybe that should be a new part of my newsletter, AI Disaster of the Week, because there are A LOT.
I am saying no more, but will leave you with these pictures and videos!
